この一ヶ月、短編の映像制作にとり組んでいて、脚本から作る映像としてはこれが初作品。撮影が終わったら我が家の素敵な家具になって欲しい、などと考えながらこんなセットを制作している。今年に入ってから木工作家の友人のアトリエで作業していたのが発想につながったのかもしれない。技術面でも彼の協力に恵まれている。そんなおり、ふと妻のプロフィールの冒頭「詩人。12歳より詩作をはじめ…」が目に入って、さすが一貫していると思った。それでは自分が12歳のとき、つまり20年前に何をやっていただろうと考えると、意外にも映画のセットらしきものを作っていたことを思い出した。留守番子で毎日映画を見ていた当時の私、特に好きだったのは「エイリアン」シリーズ。エイリアン2と3は小学生当時に原作すら読んだ。制作した作品はモンスターが住宅を破壊しているジオラマのようなもので、タイトルは「襲われたわが家」。エイリアン似のモンスターも、紙粘土なんかではなく、半田付けした金属の骨組みにプラモデル用のパテを盛ったもので、我ながらよくやっていたと思う。
エイリアンシリーズのあのH.R.ギーガーの造形。「ああ、子供のころ好きだったよ」と、ただ懐かしむことができなくなったのは、2年前に見た映画「ホドロフスキーのデューン」のせい。これは奇才アレハンドロ・ホドロフスキーの未完に終わったSF超大作「デューン」を追ったドキュメンタリー作品。「デューン」制作の途中でホドロフスキー監督がH.R.ギーガーを見出し、それが後のエイリアンシリーズ実現へと繋がったというエピソードが語られていた。彼の代表作といえば「エル・トポ」や「ホーリーマウンテン」など70年代のアヴァンギャルド作品だが、むしろ自身の家族をモチーフとした近年の作品「リアリティのダンス」と「エンドレスポエトリー」に私は驚かされた。ギトギトのマジックリアリスムと家族愛、そんな創作上相反するだろう要素が奇跡的に結ばれている。こういうことは錬金術と呼んで良いのではないか。そういうわけで、知っている人には「今さら？」と言われそうだが、アレハンドロ・ホドロフスキーは最近もっとも興味のあるアーティスト。それで、ギーガーのエイリアンも思い出の底から帰ってきた。20年の中で何がどこで繋がるか、わからないものだと思う。
I have been making a short film during a month. After all shootings done these wooden set will be also good furniture in my home. I think this idea is from I’m working in wooden craft man friend’s atelier recently. Now I’m helped with him some technical parts.
One day I saw my wife’s profile. It begins “Poet. She started writing poetry at twelves years old―” I admired that she found herself when she was such a young. Then I asked myself. What I was doing twenty years ago when I was twelve years old. Then I remembered I was making set of movie at the time. It is not changed unconsciously. While Father working at night I was alone at home and was watching films every night. I was into “Alien” series. I’ve even read novels of Alien 2 and 3. The set which I made featured form of The alien. There is a monster in front of a house. But I didn’t use paper cray, I made core with metal welding and did modeling with pate for figure hobby. I little bit admire me at the age.
After I watched documentary film “Jodorowsky’s Dune” three years ago, I was needed to think Alien’s art again. In the making of uncompleted huge film “Dune” Jodorowsky found H.R.Giger. The film was not come out finally. But staffs say it could be a step to projects of Alien series. As for Jodorowsky’s film works I prefer recent works “Dance of Reality” and “Endless Poetry” than famous avanguarde pieces “Holly Mountain”, “El Topo”. In recent works motif is his family. It’s mixed that extreme magic realism and love of family, It’s amazing. I want to say it is one Mysticism. Film fun may say “Jodorowsky? now?” but he is the most interesting director for me right now. Since him Alien’s memory comes back to me for the first time in twenty years. I was thinking that my life is winding, but there is something direction which we can not always conscious it.
